Arsenal midfielder insists Manchester City star is “not in our head” ahead of Premier League showdown
Jorginho has insisted that one of Manchester City’s star men is “not in our head” ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with the reigning champions this weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side have had a perfect start to the new and ongoing Premier League campaign so far, winning all four of their opening fixtures and in relatively comfortable fashion, too.
Following a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan in their opening UEFA Champions League game of the new season, Manchester City will now turn their attentions to facing Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
After finishing runners-up to Manchester City in the last two seasons, the Emirates Stadium side are expected to push the four-in-a-row league champions for the English top-flight title once again this term.
One of the players to watch out for in Sunday afternoon’s mouthwatering clash will be Erling Haaland, who has started the new Premier League season even better than many had anticipated, despite his already-staggering record.
The Norwegian international striker has netted a staggering nine goals in just his opening four Premier League appearances, in a run of form that has also featured two successive hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United.
Despite the frightening form from Erling Haaland, Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has suggested that Mikel Arteta’s squad are not allowing the 24-year-old frontman to get into their heads ahead of the weekend’s all-important game.
“Erling (Haaland)scoring again, it is starting to make us laugh! We look [at what he is doing] because we look at all the games and we love football,” the former Chelsea midfielder said, as per the Evening Standard.
He continued, “We love the Premier League so we watch all the games to be fair. We watch them as well, which is normal. Again, it doesn’t get into our head. We need to focus on us and that is what we are trying to do.”
Going into the game at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City sit top of the Premier League table with 12 points to their name, while Arsenal sit second with 10 points.
