Early team news: Erling Haaland status among leaked information for Manchester City vs Brentford (Premier League)
Manchester City welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Pep Guardiola’s side return to Premier League action following the international break.
The reigning Premier League champions will be hoping to maintain their 100 per cent winning start to the 2024/25 season with another victory this weekend, in a contest that marks the start of an intense run in the division for Guardiola’s squad.
Coming into the meeting with Thomas Frank’s side, Manchester City have recorded three wins from their opening three Premier League matches, scoring nine goals in the process featuring two Erling Haaland hat-tricks in succession.
A 0-2 opening weekend victory over Enzo Maresca’s big-money Chelsea squad was following up by a rout from the Norwegian, who scored Trebles in a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town at home, before doing the same in a 1-3 away win at West Ham United.
Brentford’s form hasn’t been bad at all either, winning two of their opening three matches as they fell to defeat at Anfield against Liverpool, whilst having played one game more than City in the regular season by defeating Colchester United in the Carabao Cup second round.
On the team news front for the hosts this weekend, Manchester City are likely to have just the one new injury concern to contend with, after Nathan Ake was withdrawn via a stretcher following an apparent muscle injury sustained on international duty with the Netherlands.
Oscar Bobb remains ruled out for this one courtesy of the leg bone fracture sustained in Manchester City training prior to their Premier League opener against Chelsea in early August.
Ahead of the confirmed team news from the Etihad Stadium this weekend, some initial information has began to filter throughout social media from journalists and sources regarding Manchester City’s starting line-up.
According to the information of The FPL Newsletter on X, Erling Haaland will start for Manchester City against Brentford, despite his availability being thrown into some doubt due to the tragic loss of a close family friend earlier in the week.
Pep Guardiola and Thomas Frank are expected to confirmed their respective Manchester City and Brentford starting line-ups around 13:45 (UK) on Saturday afternoon.
