A new update on the contract situation revolving around Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has emerged, with a clear stance being taken by the club’s hierarchy.
The 54-year-old is into the final year of his Manchester City contract and is understood to have been allowed both the time and the space to make a decision on his next steps within football throughout the coming months.
From the side of Manchester City, and as is usually the case when it comes to the club’s most crucial personnel both on and off the pitch, the organisation will no doubt by assessing the next best steps and potential successors whilst a decision is being weighed up.
With that being said, the Premier League champions’ priority will no doubt be retaining the coach that has brought about the most successful period in the club’s history, and structured some of the finest football teams to grace the game.
And that is the stance that is being taken by the latest updates emerging within English media, who reveal the work and words being passed on by the club’s top-level ownership to those working on the ground at the City Football Academy.
According to the information of The Mirror’s Simon Mullock, the Manchester City hierarchy have not given up on persuading manager Pep Guardiola to extend his reign at the club to a decade and beyond by signing a new contract in the coming months.
It is further revealed that Etihad Stadium chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has been personally told to ‘do what it takes’ to keep Pep Guardiola in Manchester beyond the summer of 2025 by the club’s owner Sheikh Mansour.
However, details in a new book about the Manchester City manager written by close confidante Marti Perarnau claims that Pep Guardiola will have left the club by the time a judgement on the 115 Premier League charges has been confirmed.
The new release claims, as relayed by The Mirror’s report, “Any legal process takes time – and he’ll (Guardiola) will be long gone when this situation is finally resolved.”
The showdown between Manchester City and the Premier League is expected to begin in the coming days, with a resolution on the matter and outcome expected before the end of the season, with some suggesting a date of early 2025.
Manchester City stand by their stance of holding “irrefutable evidence” that will prove their innocence on the matter, having already dismissed charges from UEFA four years ago, which also overturned a ban from European competition.
For now, Pep Guardiola will remain firmly focussed on matters on the field, and will continue to defend Manchester City to the highest degree during public media duties, as he has always done during his time with the club.
