Manchester City have finalised an agreement to sign striker Divin Mubama following his exit from West Ham United, reports have confirmed.

The highly-rated teenage forward became a free agent earlier this summer after his contract ran down with the Stratford-based club, who remain eligible for a training compensation fee after taking care of the player’s career since the age of eight.

The England under-20 international – who has been described by some reports as a ‘frustrated figure’ last season – made 12 appearances for the club last campaign, but was predominantly used from the bench and kept as back-up to their more senior attacking options.

Despite having been offered new terms by West Ham United, the player wanted to develop his career elsewhere in the European game, and originally had set his sights on playing abroad prior to fresh developments and seemingly successful approaches from Manchester City.

As per first reports from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have reached an agreement with West Ham over a £1.2 million compensation fee regarding the signing of 19-year-old striker, Divin Mubama.

It is further highlighted that medical tests have now been booked for the player, who is expected to sign a long-term and ‘strategic’ deal with Manchester City in the coming hours and days.

Previous reports pointed out that both Olympique Lyonnais and Famalicão were in talks over a move for the striker, but Manchester City have successfully hijacked an approach as they see Divin Mubama as a homegrown player who could develop with the right pathway.

Whilst Romano has already pointed out that the teenager will remain in Manchester this season before potentially embarking on a loan, The Athletic’s Sam Lee has added Mubama is expected to train mostly with the under-21’s, but also with Pep Guardiola’s first-team at times.

Whilst Divin Mubama is an exciting prospect coming into the Manchester City youth set-up, there remains plenty of activity in the way of outgoings still to be completed during the final weeks of the ongoing transfer window.

Kane Taylor is expected to finalise a move back to Aston Villa in the coming hours, with the 19-year-old midfielder having seen a transfer fee agreed between the two clubs understood to be worth in the region of £750,000 with a 25 per cent sell-on in the deal.

Additionally, highly-rated winger Joel Ndala could find himself venturing into the world of regular senior men’s football away from Manchester City, who are open to a permanent sale amid interest from the likes of Ajax and Venezia.
