Manchester City discuss £60 million Premier League transfer – Player’s agent ‘not ruling it out’
The agents of one of the Premier League’s standout players are ‘not ruling out’ the prospect of a big-money move to Manchester City in the final weeks of August.
With Manchester City retaining eyes on the transfer market this month, recent events concerning first-team transfer exits and major injury blows have meant that plans could intensify over the coming weeks to bring in new names.
Julian Alvarez’s €95 million move to Atletico Madrid has left the club short in the striker position, with only Erling Haaland at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, albeit with the Norwegian being a very capable name to possess.
Additionally, Oscar Bobb’s fractured bone in his leg sustained during Manchester City training earlier this week has further stripped Guardiola of options, despite the club being confident in their abilities to rotate on the right of a front-three in the Norwegian’s absence.
Much of the talk around transfers into Manchester City this month has centred around midfield players, and the outgoing Alvarez as well as the financial bonus issued to the club as a result could now speed up their intentions.
According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, officials within the Etihad Stadium have discussed, in the last 48 hours, triggering the £60 million release clause of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
From the side of the player, and the chances of a deal happening in the final weeks of the ongoing transfer window, the report states that the England international’s agents are ‘not ruling it out’.
Eze is fresh off the back of a European Championships campaign with England in Germany, and no doubt will have kept strong relations with Manchester City’s contingent at the tournament, namely Phil Foden.
The pair have already posted photos on their social media platforms from the tournament when they spent time away from the main group fishing – with Foden known to be a big fan of the sport and hobby.
Whether or not Crystal Palace would be open to negotiating at all on the price of Eze remains to be seen, but is also highly unlikely given the exit of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, and Marc Guehi being at the centre of transfer interest from Newcastle United.
