Manchester City’s Rico Lewis has become the first of Pep Guardiola’s squad to send a public message of support to Oscar Bobb following the Norwegian’s leg fracture.

The Academy graduate forward was on the verge of his first start of the brand new Premier League season this weekend, coming into the clash against Chelsea having arguably been Manchester City’s best player during their five-game pre-season schedule.

Following on from special attacking performances in the four-game friendly calendar over in the United States, providing three assists and two goals across his outings, Bobb then shone in the club’s FA Community Shield win over Manchester United.

However, having established himself firmly in the plans of Pep Guardiola ahead of the new season, Oscar Bobb’s season was struck with disaster, having sustained a fracture in a bone in his leg on the eve of the club’s Premier League opener.

With the youngster now jetting off for further assessment and surgery in Barcelona this week, he has received his first message of support from one of his closest friends with the Manchester City squad.

Writing on his personal Instagram on Thursday, Manchester City’s Rico Lewis became the first of Pep Guardiola’s senior squad to send a public message of support to Oscar Bobb following the Norwegian’s heartbreaking injury setback in training this week.

In a simple but heartfelt seven-word message to the 21-year-old forward, Lewis wrote, “Stay strong brother.

“You will be back!”

The current understanding is that Oscar Bobb could be ruled out for a minimum of three months, providing his recovery process goes to plan and there are no further complications along the way.

It remains to be seen how Bobb’s lay-off could now affect Manchester City’s transfer business during the final weeks of the window, with the club well aware of the strength in depth they have on the right-wing in particular.

The signing of Savinho from Troyes earlier in the summer could now become a vital piece of business, with the Brazil international widely expected to compete for a place on the right of a front-three with Oscar Bobb.
