How long will Oscar Bobb be ruled out for following leg fracture in Manchester City training?
An initial timeframe for the return of Oscar Bobb to Manchester City duties has been revealed in light of his training ground injury sustained on Wednesday afternoon.
The 21-year-old is understood to have fractured a bone in his leg during Manchester City training on Wednesday, and is now set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines with further assessment and an official prognosis expected in due course.
The official line is that Bobb sustained the injury without contact during Pep Guardiola’s session this week, and a decision must now be made in regards to the best next steps, including a potential trip to Barcelona to visit the club’s renowned specialist Dr. Ramon Cugat.
Thankfully for the Premier League champions, the wider belief is that Oscar Bobb has avoided a serious leg break, with many fans fearing the worst following initial rumours of a problem concerning the Norwegian, but a lengthy lay-off is likely regardless.
But just how long could Oscar Bobb be ruled out of action for the Premier League champions this season, with the opening weekend of the brand new top-flight campaign looming in the coming days.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee, the Premier League champions hope that Oscar Bobb will be back in action for the club before the end of 2024, after initial checks on the issue suggested that the injury is ‘not a serious break’.
Manchester City travel to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon to open up their Premier League account for the new season, and prior to his injury this week, the widespread belief was that Oscar Bobb had earned his place in the starting line-up for the contest.
The Norway international was entering into the competitive season off the back of four stellar performances for the club during their pre-season tour of the United States, as well as claiming the Player of the Match award in the FA Community Shield win over Manchester United.
However, his lay-off and spell away from first-team activities will now likely present Brazilian international and new Manchester City signing, Savinho with a clear opportunity to impress over a prolonged period of time this season.
