Reports have now detailed the next steps being undertaken by Manchester City’s medical department and those around Oscar Bobb following his injury setback.

The Norway international was widely expected to undertake a fast start to the new season by starring in Manchester City’s opening Premier League encounter with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

That outing against Enzo Maresca’s side was expected to follow a stellar pre-season schedule in the United States, as well as a Player of the Match-winning performance against Manchester United at Wembley last weekend.

However, following a non-contact incident in Manchester City training this week, Oscar Bobb is now understood to have sustained a fracture in a bone within his leg, meaning his progress ahead of a potentially breakthrough campaign has ground to a halt.

Now, following initial reports and information covering the situation, further details have emerged detailing the next steps being undertaken by Manchester City and the player to ensure the best possible recovery and shorten his period on the sidelines.

As per the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb Oscar is due to fly to Barcelona today, with the expectation in various quarters being that he will be assessed by renowned specialist Dr. Ramon Cugat.

Gaughan reports that an operation on a fractured fibula sustained by the 21-year-old in Manchester City training on Wednesday is due on Friday, with an initial lay-off of between three and four months.

Additional reporting from MailSport reveals that Manchester City sources were ‘heartened’ that it Bobb’s fracture was deemed a ‘clean break’ and therefore can be easily operated on. Following surgery in Barcelona, the player is expected to remain in the city for around a week and will then undergo work back in Manchester.

Manchester City will open their account in the Premier League this weekend with a meeting against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, whom they have already faced once this campaign in a pre-season friendly in Columbus, Ohio.

It remains to be seen how Pep Guardiola will formulate his attacking trio in light of Oscar Bobb’s injury, with Savinho the alternative in the right-wing berth, according to those with knowledge of the first-team space this season.

There also remains uncertainty over how Manchester City may look to address the squad in the transfer market, with Bobb’s injury setback following Julian Alvarez’s €95 million exit for Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

Manchester City remain linked to a host of transfer options within the game, and are understood to be most interested in the likes of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes.
