How did Oscar Bobb break leg bone during Manchester City training?
A number of reporters covering Manchester City have extensively detailed the incident which directly led to Oscar Bobb’s dramatic leg bone fracture on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old was in line for a breakthrough campaign under Pep Guardiola, having started the club’s pre-season preparations in fine form both during friendly and competitive fixtures for Manchester City.
Forging a strong partnership with compatriot Erling Haaland in front of goal, Oscar Bobb was arguably Manchester City’s finest performer in the United States with his three assists and two goals across four contests.
Showings Stateside were then followed up by a Player of the Match-winning performance at Wembley against Manchester United, providing a crucial assist to bring the game level in the 86th minute before Pep Guardiola’s side would emerge victorious in a penalty shoot-out.
But despite hopes of an opening weekend start against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, Bobb’s season has immediately been put on hold following a bone fracture in his leg this week, with several reports now detailing how the issue came about.
As first reported by The Times’ Paul Hirst, Oscar Bobb suffered the injury in Manchester City training on Wednesday, without contact with any fellow first-team player.
Additional comments issued by BBC Sport’s Simon Stone revealed that the 21-year-old sustained his leg bone fracture ‘whilst turning’ during the training session at the City Football Academy.
A similar line of reporting was then provided by ESPN’s Rob Dawson, who reported that no other Manchester City player was involved in the incident that directly resulted in Bobb fracturing a bone in his leg.
Whilst remaining unconfirmed, there have been rumours on social media of a collision between Oscar Bobb and a Manchester City teammate, albeit being completely accidental and no blame pointed at anyone involved.
The current estimation is that Oscar Bobb will be ruled out of action for Manchester City for up to four months, should his recovery process go as planned and surgery in Barcelona this week is deemed successful.
The Norway international is set to travel to Catalunya on Thursday before undergoing his scheduled operation on Friday, remaining in the country for a further week following surgery, as reported by MailSport.
