More than a dozen strikers from across the globe have been offered to Manchester City by their representatives in light of Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina international star brought an end to his two-year stay at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend, putting pen to paper on a long-term agreement at a club that have invested so significantly in his signature.

Manchester City have secured themselves an immense profit, having only issued an original financial outlay of £14 million on the former River Plate man, earning themselves up to €95 million including add-ons via his move to the Metropolitano.

But the exit of Julian Alvarez, despite retaining Erling Haaland as the club’s leading striker, leaves Pep Guardiola somewhat stretched in the attacking department, especially considering the aforementioned Norwegian has moments of fitness concerns across a 60-game season.

With that being said, the Premier League champions will likely turn their attention back towards the transfer market to assess for possible options to make up for La Arana’s departure. Although, a new report would suggest that such options are in fact coming to them.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, Etihad Stadium officials would like to bring in a ‘direct striker replacement’ for Julian Alvarez this summer, following his €95 million move to Atletico Madrid this week.

The report however points out that whoever may come into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad ‘might not be stellar name’ and could even be an initial loan deal to make up for the decrease in personnel options in light of the aforementioned Argentine’s exit.

Such is the interest from players to get a piece of the action under Pep Guardiola at City that the same report also reveals that in recent days, Etihad Stadium bosses have ‘fielded calls’ from agents which have seen ‘more than a dozen’ strikers offered to the club.

The specific names of players supposedly offered to Manchester City remain unknown, however given the price of top-level strikers within the game at present, no high-ranking forward can be secured at a cut-price this summer.

One example of the market’s state at present is Dominic Solanke, who secured a move to Tottenham last week from AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth an initial £55 million, but rising to upwards of £65 million.

Manchester City have been sensationally linked with players in alternative positions, with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz among those to be tied to interest. However, City Xtra understands that such a suggestion is far wide of the mark, and there has certainly been no contact.
