Confirmed Match Officials: Chelsea vs Manchester City (Premier League)
Anthony Taylor has been named as the referee for Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Pep Guardiola’s side begin their latest Premier League title defence at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, facing Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, following the Italian manager’s appointment as head coach during the summer.
Maresca, who was previously part of Guardiola’s first-team coaching staff at the Etihad Stadium, helped Leicester City achieve promotion back to the top-flight last season, prior to replacing Mauricio Pochettino in west London.
Manchester City and Chelsea met during pre-season in Columbus earlier this month, with the Sky Blues winning 4-2 at the Ohio Stadium, and Erling Haaland scoring a quick-fire hat-trick.
The Blues beat Manchester United on penalties to win the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium last weekend, and also overcame Chelsea in north London last season, winning 1-0 in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final.
City failed to win both Premier League meetings against Chelsea last season however, drawing 4-4 at Stamford Bridge and 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
