Manchester City and Manchester United have both confirmed their line-ups for the FA Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side begin their pursuit of six trophies this season with an FA Community Shield clash against local rivals Manchester United to kick-start their 2024/25 campaign.

Manchester City are in FA Community Shield action following their latest Premier League title triumph in May, and face Manchester United as a result of the Emirates FA Cup final defeat to Erik ten Hag’s side last season.

The Sky Blues suffered a surprise loss to Manchester United, after the Red Devils raced into a shock two-goal first-half lead, following efforts from both Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

Manchester City had won both Premier League meetings against Manchester United last season, and have won six of the past eight meetings between the two local rivals.

Both clubs have been in the United States for pre-season ahead of Saturday’s clash, with Manchester City winning only one match of their four-match tour, as Guardiola’s squad included only a handful of first-team players.

Manchester City have welcomed back a number of first-team stars ahead of this weekend’s FA Community Shield clash, and the fixture could provide summer signing Savinho with his debut, following the Brazilian’s arrival for £21 million.
