Premier League club ‘fear’ Manchester City approach for £60 million star
Crystal Palace are reportedly fearing a late Manchester City transfer approach for Eberechi Eze.
The 26-year-old could be targeted by Manchester City as a replacement for Julian Alvarez, after Etihad bosses agreed to a club-record sale of the Argentinian forward to Atletico Madrid for a deal totalling €95 million.
Alvarez departs the Premier League club after moving to Manchester City from River Plate for just £14 million in 2022, with the 24-year-old having made over 100 appearances and won six trophies with the Sky Blues.
Manchester City are set to have a huge sum of money available to replace the Argentina international, with the east Manchester club having also boosted Guardiola’s transfer fund through sales of several City Football Academy graduates.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Liam Delap have both completed permanent exits from the Etihad Stadium, with the £21 million addition of Savinho, currently Manchester City’s only first-team signing of the summer.
Guardiola could be set to further bolster his squad following the exit of Alvarez however, with Crystal Palace reportedly fearing a fresh approach for Eze, despite the start of the Premier League campaign being next weekend.
The Englishman, who registered 15 direct goal involvements in 27 Premier League appearances last season, has a £60 million release clause within his current contract at Selhurst Park.
GiveMeSport claim that the south London club are ‘concerned ‘ that Eze could become a late summer target for Manchester City, following the exit of Alvarez to the Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid.
Palace have already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, and are facing the prospect of losing defender Marc Guehi to Newcastle United.
