Etihad Stadium to host three additional matches during 2024/25 campaign -Manchester United derby clash included
Manchester City Women will play three WSL matches at the Etihad Stadium during the 2024/25 campaign.
Gareth Taylor’s side will swap the Joie Stadium for the Etihad Stadium on three occasions during the upcoming 2024/25 campaign, as Manchester City Women plan to play three matches at the 53,400 capacity arena.
Manchester City Women have previously played at the Etihad, with two WSL clashes against local rivals Manchester United attracting over 40,000 supporters to the home of the Manchester City men’s team.
Following the publication of WSL fixtures for the 2024/25 season, Manchester City have announced that three matches will be played at the Etihad Stadium, including January’s derby clash against Manchester United.
Taylor’s side will also face Tottenham and Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, with the fixtures due to take place in November and March respectively.
Manchester City Women will bid to win the WSL title again this season, having agonisingly missed out on the trophy on goal difference during the 2023/24 campaign to Chelsea, as both clubs finished on 55 points – registering 18 wins, one draw, and three losses.
Manchester City Women have made a number of new signings to try and boost their latest title aspirations, including the addition of former Arsenal star Vivianne Miedema, who has won the WSL Golden Boot award twice.
The 28-year-old was unveiled to supporters at an Etihad Stadium event on Sunday, alongside Manchester City’s only first-team signing of the summer to date, Brazilian forward Savinho.
Miedema could make her competitive Manchester City debut against her former club, with the Blues beginning their WSL campaign against Arsenal.
