Puma and Manchester City have now confirmed the release date for the eagerly-awaited 2024/25 away kit.

The retro-inspired edition has already been spotted in various leaked images across social media, whilst also having been seen on sale in the Italian city of Florence earlier this summer, providing supporters with a clear and early look at the impending release.

Information concerning the new release first emerged in early February 2024, when it was claimed that Manchester City and Puma were working on an away edition that would feature the same colourway as the 1998/99 away shirt.

The away shirt will also become Manchester City’s third release ahead of the new campaign, following on from the latest design of a traditional sky blue home kit, and a maroon third kit – both of which have been showcased during pre-season in the United States.

Now, as confirmed by both Manchester City and Puma across their respective social media channels this week, the eagerly-awaited 2024/25 away shirt will be released to supporters across the globe on Thursday 8 August.

In a teaser video unveiled on the Premier League champions social media channels, a short clip showcases the iconic equalising goal at the old Wembley Stadium in the 1999 play-off final scored by Paul Dickov.

The Manchester City legend accompanies the clip itself by saying, “We stick together through thick and thin. Because that’s the thing about City, we never give in!”

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will be recruiting any other new names to don the new kits this season, with Savinho being the only arrival into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad so far this summer.

There could yet be more major outgoings from the squad, with Julian Alvarez expected to finalise a switch to Atletico Madrid in the coming days with the two clubs agreeing a financial package totalling €95 million.
