Julian Alvarez’s transfer to Atletico Madrid this summer has changed the landscape when it comes to Manchester City’s most expensive player sales of all-time.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term agreement at Metropolitano this week, bringing an end to a two-year association with the Premier League champions in which he won almost everything available in English football.

Alvarez’s initial interest in a move away from Manchester has largely been sparked by an interest in improved game time in the leading striker role, whilst the climate on offer in Spain has no doubt been of interest to himself and his family.

For Manchester City, their stance has remained the same throughout the summer. Etihad Stadium officials have been happy for Alvarez to leave the club, providing they were presented with a suitable offer that appeases their own internal valuation.

And following consecutive rounds of negotiations, the two clubs were able to reach an agreement on a finalised deal, with personal terms agreed between the La Liga side and Julian Alvarez’s representatives.

It is understood that Manchester City have received an initial fee of €75 million for Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, with a further €20 million in add-ons based on the success of the Argentine in the Spanish capital.

But where does Julian Alvarez’s overall package of €95 million rank amongst Manchester City’s most expensive player departures of all-time? Here is the updated top-10 including the expected confirmation of the 24-year-old to Atletico Madrid!
