Manchester City midfielder Micah Hamilton has completed a permanent transfer to Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough.

The 20-year-old, who has been at Manchester City for over a decade, made his first-team debut for Pep Guardiola’s side in the UEFA Champions League last season, scoring emphatically against Red Star Belgrade.

Hamilton also featured against Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup and FC Copenhagen in the Champions League for Manchester City during the 2023/24 campaign, and was additionally part of the Blues’ squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

The midfielder was an unused substitute on six further occasions, and was directly involved in eight goals in 19 Premier League 2 appearances during the 2023/24 season.

Hamilton has also recently been involved in Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States, making appearances in friendlies against Celtic, AC Milan and FC Barcelona.

The 2003-born star is now set for more regular first-team opportunities, having completed a permanent move to the Riverside Stadium to play for Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick.

A Manchester City statement, read: “City winger Micah Hamilton has left the Club on a permanent transfer to Middlesbrough. The 20-year-old joins the Championship side ahead of the 2024/25 season as they push for promotion to the Premier League. 

“An academy graduate, Hamilton joined City at under-9 level and was a central figure in helping both our Under-18s and, latterly, Elite Development Squad claim a hat-trick of national titles in as many years. 

“Everyone at City would like to wish Micah the best of luck in his future career and thank him for his efforts.”

How have Middlesbrough reacted to the deal?

A Middlesbrough statement, said: “Boro have completed the signing of Micah Hamilton from Manchester City. The 20-year-old joins the club on a four-year contract and trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Friday morning.

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick said: “Micah is an exciting young player who we’re looking forward to working with. He’s already been in and around the senior side at Man City – he’s got that experience from playing in the Champions League – and he is another great addition to the squad.”
