Manchester City’s pre-season tour of the United States is set to land the Premier League club a major cash windfall.

Pep Guardiola’s side returned to the United States for pre-season this summer, with a number of Premier League and European giants choosing to travel stateside to prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

Manchester City, who will also be in the United States next summer for the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, played four matches during their tour of America, with a handful of first-team players joined by a contingent from the City Football Academy.

The Sky Blues concluded the pre-season tour with a 4-2 win over Chelsea in Ohio over the weekend, with Pep Guardiola’s side scheduled to begin their Premier League title defence against the west London club later this month.

The victory over Chelsea, which came courtesy of an Erling Haaland hat-trick and Oscar Bobb second-half goal, was Manchester City’s first win of the pre-season tour.

Manchester City had previously suffered losses to both Celtic and AC Milan, as well as a penalty shoot-out defeat to FC Barcelona in Orlando, following an initial 2-2 draw at the Camping World Stadium.

The Blues previously visited America for pre-season in 2022, following the Coronavirus pandemic, with a number of upcoming events reportedly making the US a profitable destination of choice.

Football Insider report that Manchester City’s recent tour of the US could earn the Sky Blues a whopping £26.8 million cash windfall, as Premier League clubs seek to tap into an estimated £860 million market over the next two years.

Pep Guardiola’s side will return to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, with it claimed that over £800 million of additional revenue is on offer to European clubs ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup across the US, Canada and Mexico.

Manchester City unveiled a brand new store in the heart of New York City ahead of the summer tour, opening a CityStore at the iconic Rockefeller Center.
