Manchester City could yet face a fight to retain the services of Norway international Oscar Bobb this summer, with watching admiration from within the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has arguably been Manchester City’s leading light during their pre-season tour of the United States this summer, recording three assists to accompany a goal in three contests against Celtic, AC Milan, and FC Barcelona.

Alongside a number of other youth talents, the US pre-season tour has provided Pep Guardiola with an ideal opportunity to trial and test new names in various different roles, with Nico O’Reilly among those to have excelled.

However, the forthcoming season could provide Oscar Bobb with his firmest challenge to date since breaking into the first-team squad, with added competition from the club’s new-signing Savinho, who has openly admitted to preferring the right-wing berth.

And while the belief is that the player himself is buoyed to fight for a place in Pep Guardiola’s plans and continue developing within the finest footballing institution on the planet, that has not stopped clubs from watching Bobb’s situation with intrigue.

According to the information of GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb is one name ‘appreciated’ by those at Chelsea, however it is made clear that the Stamford Bridge club may not have too much hope when it comes to their chances of recruiting the player.

The report explains that the 21-year-old City Academy graduate is understood to be content to stay and fight for more minutes under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium this season, building upon an already impressive start to the campaign in pre-season.

Oscar Bobb recorded a number of stand-out moments for Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad last season, largely taking on the game time that would have been granted to Cole Palmer, had he not have taken up the opportunity at Chelsea last summer.

The Norwegian’s finest moment in a Manchester City shirt came at St James’ Park, combining with Kevin De Bruyne earlier this year to round Newcastle’s goalkeeper and score a vital winning goal as part of the club’s Premier League title hunt.

Strikes in the UEFA Champions League would also come for Oscar Bobb, with Pep Guardiola known to be a keen admirer on the player’s development, whilst still insisting that he has a long way to go before being entrusted as a mainstay first-team star.
