Manchester City complete signing of winger from Championship club
Manchester City and the City Football Academy have completed the signing of teenager Timeo Whisker from Cardiff City.
The 15-year-old has become the latest footballing prodigy to complete a move to the City Football Academy, just weeks after Manchester City completed a record-breaking deal to sign 2009-born American teenager Cavan Sullivan.
Manchester City’s success stretches beyond Pep Guardiola’s first-team, with the Sky Blues having also won trophies within the academy set-up, including the Under-18s lifting the FA Youth Cup at the Etihad Stadium in May.
The Under-18s beat Leeds United 4-0 after an emphatic second-half display, with some members of the victorious young side currently part of Guardiola’s pre-season tour squad of the United States.
Manchester City suffered a second successive pre-season defeat on Saturday, losing 2-3 to AC Milan at the Yankee Stadium in New York, despite goals from both Erling Haaland and James McAtee.
The inclusion of academy players will provide fresh incentive to youngsters at the CFA, with teenagers having already seen Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb enjoy first-team success at the club.
Manchester City have taken steps to further strengthen their academy this summer, completing a deal to sign Timeo Whisker from the Sky Bet Championship.
Outlet The Secret Scout report that the 15-year-old has completed a move to the City Football Academy from Cardiff City, with the teenager having been wanted by a number of Premier League clubs.
Journalist David Ornstein revealed in March that Manchester City were set to sign the teenager from the Welsh capital for around £250,000, and that they highly-rated prospect would sign a schoolboy contract in east Manchester.
Etihad bosses also recently announced 12 new scholars ahead of the 2024/25 season, with full-time contracts offered to a dozen individuals at the City Football Academy.
Kaden Braithwaite, Seth Chingwaro, Charlie Courtman, Leke Drake, Reigan Heskey, Max Hudson, Jayden Lienou, Stephen Mfuni, Kylan Midwood, Tyrone Samba, Oliver Tevenan and Oliver Whatmuff are the latest cohort of Manchester City scholars.
