Misguided transfer rumours surrounding Manchester City and chase for £60 million midfielder
Reports concerning Manchester City and a pursuit for one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking midfielders have been shut down as ‘misguided’.
The Premier League champions have long been linked with Crystal Palace and England international Eberechi Eze, having first eyed major change towards their midfield ranks during the previous summer transfer window.
Having considered a bid for the player last summer, Manchester City ultimately turned their attentions towards Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portugal international Matheus Nunes, completing a deal in the region of £53 million.
However, with ongoing concerns over the longevity of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva as Manchester City players, the club have been linked with a return to Selhurst Park for Eberechi Eze, as a potential replacement for the Belgium international.
The latest reports have indicated a clear distancing from such a possibility, as Manchester City’s ongoing summer transfer window remains somewhat limited to just minimal changes to their first-team squad.
According to the information of ManchesterWorld’s Michael Plant, suggestions that Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze will arrive at the Etihad Stadium this summer as the heir apparent to Kevin De Bruyne are ‘misguided’.
While the subject of arrivals may have only seen Savinho register himself as the club’s only senior signing so far, the outgoings market has been substantially busier, and Manchester City could yet see significant change in the coming weeks.
Ederson has been the most linked of the Premier League champions’ first-team mainstays, fielding interest from Saudi Arabia as Etihad Stadium bosses stand firm on a valuation understood to be worth in the region of £50 million.
Julian Alvarez is also keen on a Manchester City exit and is fielding interest from La Liga’s Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish capital able to offer a more suitable climate and culture to the 24-year-old striker.
