After several days without updates on potential new signings in light of Savinho’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium, Monday has brought about exactly the opposite.

Manchester City have been linked with transfer interest in all of a new first-team goalkeeper to challenge Stefan Ortega, a creative midfielder long-admired and considered last summer, as well as a new attacking talent to presumably succeed Julian Alvarez.

As always, there was even more discussion surrounding the potential of big-name departures from the Etihad Stadium, with both Kevin De Bruyne and Mateo Kovacic linked with their respective prospect of fresh challenges.

Following a largely hectic day 39 of the summer transfer window, here is everything you need to know in order to stay up to date with the latest Manchester City transfer rumours, news, and gossip!

Arrivals

Manchester City have approached Gianluigi Donnarumma as an option in case Ederson leaves for Saudi Arabia. The 25-year-old is happy at PSG and has held early-stage discussions about extending his contract, but is interested in playing in the Premier League at some stage. (Ben Jacobs, X)

Manchester City are preparing for Kevin De Bruyne’s potential departure and see Eberechi Eze as a possible replacement. Pep Guardiola rates the 26-year-old highly and City came close to bidding for the player last summer before signing Matheus Nunes. (Ed Aarons, Guardian)

Manchester City have no interest in bringing in a ‘big name’ as a new goalkeeper this summer despite links to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Stefan Ortega would become the club’s new number one if Ederson left for the Saudi Pro League. (Fabrizio Romano, X)

Departures

Kevin De Bruyne has held talks with unnamed clubs in Saudi Arabia over a move at the end of his current Manchester City contract in 2025. The midfielder could earn €150 million over two years in the middle-east. The chance of a transfer this summer is small. (Nieuwsblad Sport)

Al Ittihad will negotiate with Manchester City again for Ederson this week, with an asking price of around €50 million. The goalkeeper has already accepted the move. (Fabrizio Romano, X)

Borussia Dortmund have made contact with Manchester City to discuss a deal for Yan Couto. The Bundesliga side have no intention of paying a €40 million release clause, and are negotiating a price, with Couto keen. Dortmund plan to invest around €20 million to €25 million. (Fabrizio Romano, X)

Rico Lewis on his Manchester City future: “I’m 100% in the right place… To be honest I need to continue what I’m doing. The main thing is to be patient and wait for the chances to come. They might not come often but when they do come you need to take them.

“The manager doesn’t just not play you, if he sees you doing well and benefitting the team, he’ll play you. I need to do what I can and play as well as I can. I don’t need to do anything amazing or special. Stick to the basics, make sure I’m fit.” (Joe Bray, Manchester Evening News)

Jack Gaughan: “There are always a host of clubs across Europe asking Manchester City about a loan [for Rico Lewis] but the academy product is staying put and desperate to force a way in on a more consistent basis.” (MailSport)

Manchester City will only consider offers in excess of £40 million for Ederson, while the club remain relaxed about the situation with Pep Guardiola confident that Stefan Ortega can step up if the Brazilian leaves. (Rob Dawson, ESPN)

Manchester City would prefer to sell Kevin De Bruyne to Saudi Arabia this summer if the intention is to run down his final year of contract and move there for free next year. City has very little leverage in the matter, aside from offering a new deal to a player who turns 34-years-old next May and who will not take a pay cut. (Tolmie’s Hairdoo, X)

Mateo Kovacic has emerged as an option for Fenerbahce and the club’s sporting director Mario Branco will fly to England this week to hold talks. Branco hopes to have talks with both Kovacic himself as well as Manchester City, and then a decision will be made on whether they will make an attempt to sign him. (Dirilis Postasi)
