Manchester City will continue to hold talks with the representatives of Argentina international striker Julian Alvarez in the coming days to further discuss his future.

The future of the 24-year-old was plunged into doubt earlier this summer, following the emergence of information that accurately indicated the player’s desire to secure more consistent opportunities as a club’s leading striker.

Alvarez was at the centre of much of Manchester City’s excellence last season, largely covering in attacking midfield during the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, before excelling in the lone striker rule during Erling Haaland’s two-month lay-off through a foot bone fracture.

But despite his most productive season to date since joining Manchester City in the summer market of 2022, the Argentina international is appearing to be unsettled at the prospect of being a back-up to the aforementioned Norwegian for the striker position this season.

With that being said however, there is no desire from the player’s side to push for a transfer, and should Manchester City not receive a satisfactory offer from a potential suitor, the belief is that the player would have no problem remaining at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions do want to seek a resolution to the matter sooner rather than later, and the latest reports emerging from the saga involving Alvarez indicate imminent talks with Etihad Stadium bosses.

That is according to the information of transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City intend on holding additional talks with the representatives of Julian Alvarez to further identify the next best steps in relation to the 24-year-old’s club future.

“Manchester City keep considering Julian Alvarez as a key player for them, so it would have to be a big proposal or there is no chance for all the clubs interested,” Fabrizio Romano explained in conversation with CaughtOffside.

He continued, “There is no way for loan, I also saw that kind of reports. More talks between Julian (Alvarez’s) camp and (Manchester) City in the next days will take place to discuss future steps.”

Should Manchester City and Julian Alvarez’s representatives believe that an exit is best for all parties, and the Premier League champions receive an offer that meets their financial valuation on the player, then a deal will be done in the weeks that remain this summer.

However, that will no doubt leave City bosses in a position where they will need to reassess the current picture in the summer market in order to secure a suitable replacement for a player that is so crucial to versatility in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

One name that appears to have been shut down as a potential option for Manchester City by Portuguese media is Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, with the Etihad club reportedly holding no intention to do a deal for a player that they have admired for a number of seasons.
