Manchester City allocate £85 million transfer package for Premier League star – Player concerned over breaking fan relations
Premier League champions Manchester City have allocated a significant portion of spending to the potential negotiation and arrival of Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes.
Etihad Stadium bosses are intent on securing recruitment in the centre of the park within Pep Guardiola’s squad, amid concerns over workload for some of the existing members of the team and an awareness that they do not have sufficient cover for Rodrigo.
The Spanish defensive midfielder – who is currently on holiday after a Player of the Tournament-winning outing at the European Championships – spoke out on various occasions last season over his need for rest during the busiest times of the campaign.
But with Manchester City’s incoming transfer market activity finally underway, the club may now feel as though they can switch their attentions to other options and positions within the squad, as players’ representatives intensify talks with the new season now just weeks away.
That search for midfield deals could now take the club back to Newcastle United, despite Manchester City having already turned down the opportunity to sign the 26-year-old via a release clause earlier in the window.
However, according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, Bruno Guimaraes ‘loves’ Newcastle United’s fans, while both the player and his representatives have been ‘especially wary’ of damaging his standing amongst them.
From the side of Manchester City and their stance on softening the blow to their Premier League rivals, it is reported that Etihad Stadium bosses are willing to help with the possibility of offering players on preferential terms, loans, or sales.
It is further revealed that Manchester City’s valuation of Bruno Guimaraes is understood to be commensurate with the £85 million that club bosses had agreed to pay for the midfielder’s Brazil international team-mate Lucas Paqueta.
Doing a deal for Guimaraes in and around the £85 million mark would represent a positive negotiation for Manchester City, who turned away from the chance at activating the player’s £100 million release clause which expired last month.
At the time, Guimaraes was linked with transfer interest from both Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, both of whom also rejected the chance to recruit the player at such a top-level transfer fee.
Should City do a deal for Guimaraes in the coming days, the player would be highly unlikely to play any part in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, with his Brazilian teammate and new Etihad signing Savinho arriving at the club in early August.
