Manchester City have presented Savinho as their newest recruit into Pep Guardiola’s squad, and his latest career change has been greeted with an alteration to his shirts.

The Brazilian international has become Manchester City’s first signing of the ongoing summer transfer window, with the Premier League champions sanctioning a £33.6 million financial package to Troyes for the services of the player.

Savinho’s move to the Etihad Stadium comes off the back of a stellar individual season on loan at Girona, inspiring the La Liga club to a remarkable spot in the UEFA Champions League qualification positions.

Whilst the initial understanding was that Manchester City would be looking to sanction a loan move for the Brazilian upon his arrival at the club in August, the belief now is that he will be fully integrated into Pep Guardiola’s squad, such is the admiration for his skillset.

And that is not the only change Manchester City will see in connection to Savinho, with the Brazilian also opting to change his shirt name from the one that was used by Girona throughout the course of last season.

Speaking to ManCity.com upon his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, Savinho has explained why he will no longer be known as ‘Savio’ on the back of his Manchester City match shirts, despite using the latter during his loan spell at Girona.

“[My name change] is because in the [Brazil] national team, the first call-up they put Savinho on the shirt,” the 20-year-old explained in his first club interview. “People in Girona knew me more as Savinho, it was just written Savio on the shirt, you know?”

He continued, “So I told [Manchester City] to put Savinho on the shirt and I hope it brings me luck too, this name Savinho.”

Manchester City fans are expected to see Savinho utilised on the right of an attacking trio, with the Brazilian known to be a flair player keen to cut inside onto his left-foot and create goalscoring opportunities through one-vs-one approaches.

The arrival of the youngster adds yet more outstanding attacking talent to an already blockbuster line-up in attacking positions, with some fans already speaking of the prospect of Jeremy Doku and Savinho complimenting Erling Haaland in the same formation.

Savinho’s presence will also add more competition and pressure to players hoping to stake a claim on a consistent starting berth, including Academy graduate Oscar Bobb and Jack Grealish – who is hungry to return from a disappointing previous campaign.
