Savinho has given Manchester City fans a clear insight into what they can expect from his game when he takes to the field for the Etihad club next month.

The Brazil international finalised his transfer to the Premier League this week, with Manchester City sanctioning a £33.6 million total package including add-ons for the 20-year-old winger, who rose to the top of the club’s attention last season.

An outstanding individual season with Girona in La Liga, on loan from fellow City Football Group side Troyes, aided Míchel’s squad in their ultimately successful pursuit of UEFA Champions League football.

But instead of a return to Girona for that European campaign, Savinho has achieved a childhood dream of joining Manchester City and there is certainly plenty to be excited about from the viewpoint of supporters.

Speaking to ManCity.com in light of his official announcement as the Premier League champions’ latest recruit, the 20-year-old gave City fans an insight into what they can expect from his game during the upcoming season and beyond.

“My playing style is that of a Brazilian who likes to take on opponents, to be joyful, play joyful football with one-on-ones, providing assists, defending too, and anything I can to help the team,” explained the Brazil international.

“My main characteristic, which I like the most, is taking on opponents, being happy and  getting the crowd on their feet.”

But where could the former Troyes, PSV Eindhoven, and Girona man operate under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and what is his preferred position ahead of linking up with the squad next month?

“I really like playing on the left and right, but I can also play in the middle,” Savinho admitted. “[If I had to choose], I really prefer to play on the right wing. But whatever the coach, the boss decides, I will help the team.”

Savinho is expected to formally link up with his new Manchester City teammates when they return from pre-season tour duties in the United States in early August, with the squad jetting Stateside on Friday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola is expected to name an expanded squad list for their four matches in the USA, complimented by a strong representation from the club’s Academy age groups with most of the team’s European Championship stars missing the tour entirely.

Only Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic are expected to represent Manchester City in the United States of those who also competed at Euro 2024, having exited the tournament in the group stage of the competition.
