Manchester City confirm £33.6 million arrival as three exits expected post-USA pre-season tour
Yes, you read that right. Manchester City have finally announced their first arrival of the 2024 summer transfer window on Thursday!
A glamorous unveiling of the Brazil international Savinho sent Manchester City supporters into a social media frenzy as the club secured the signing of their new number 26, taking the reins from Riyad Mahrez – who left for Saudi Arabia last summer.
But the main flow of stories centred around potential departures, with talk of a further two loan deals emerging this week, but not until after the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States – which begins early next week.
Following day 35 of the summer transfer window, and the first confirmed arrival into the Manchester City first-team squad, here is everything you need to know to remain up to date with the latest events unfolding around the Etihad Stadium.
Arrivals
Savinho has signed a five-year contract at Manchester City until the summer of 2029 in a deal worth an initial £21 million for Savio, potentially rising to £33.6 million with add-ons. (Official)
Timeo Whisker has joined Manchester City from Cardiff City and will play for the under-18s. (Official, TheSecretScout)
Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City tried everything to sign FC Barcelona midfielder, Guille Fernández. The 16-year-old will however continue at Barça for three more seasons, and never wanted to meet with other clubs to discuss his future. (Toni Juanmarti, X)
Manchester City are frontrunners to sign young talent Xavier Parker from West Ham United for their Academy. City are confident to get it done, beating many English top clubs to the signing. (Fabrizio Romano, X)
Departures
Tomas Galvez has agreed a deal to join LASK on loan, with the 19-year-old set to leave Manchester City once he returns from the pre-season tour of the United States. (Pete O’Rourke, Football Insider)
Cardiff City have registered an interest in Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson. The Championship side prefer a permanent deal, however City were considering whether a new contract and another loan might suit better. (Glenn Williams, WalesOnline)
Callum Doyle is in line for a call-up to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad for the USA pre-season tour. Upon City’s return to the UK ahead of the Community Shield, Doyle could then depart on loan to Norwich City without any obligation to purchase. (Joe Bray, Manchester Evening News)
