Erling Haaland has been set a goalscoring challenge by his compatriot and new Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, speaking during a new interview.

The 23-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation since making the move to the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in the summer market of 2022, claiming six trophies along the way.

The Norwegian’s goalscoring antics inspired Manchester City to two further Premier League titles in consecutive seasons, making it a historic four in a row for Pep Guardiola’s side – a feat never before achieved in English football.

Maiden UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup titles would also come during the striker’s reign as Manchester City’s frontman, who has scored an outstanding 90 goals and provided 15 assists in just 98 appearances across all competitions.

But one new face to the Premier League has issued Haaland with a warning and a challenge ahead of his arrival in English football, and a name that the Manchester City forward will certainly know well from international football.

Speaking during a new conversation with Radio Marca’s Marcador programme, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo and translated by Sport Witness, Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen revealed a goalscoring challenge set to Erling Haaland ahead of his arrival in the Premier League.

“Celta will be my home all my life. But I am 24 years old and going to the Premier (League) is a dream,” he said during the interview. “Fighting to stay with Celta this last season has helped me a lot mentally, it has made me stronger.”

He continued, “I have already joked a lot with (Erling) Haaland. I have told him to see if I score more goals. We are very good friends and I already want to face him. I dream of scoring many goals here at Wolves. I’m 24 years old and I know the best is yet to come.”

Strand Larsen and Haaland star together for the Norwegian national team, but will no doubt be keen and hungry to get back to match action having missed out on the European Championships in Germany this summer.

Wolves completed the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen from La Liga side Celta Vigo earlier this month, with the 24-year-old Norway international initially joining on a loan deal that will automatically become permanent until 2029, should certain clauses be triggered.

Larsen moves to Molineux fresh off the back of an impressive season in La Liga where he ended the campaign as his club’s leading goalscorer having registered a commendable 13 goals across La Liga outings.
