Contract terms, loan fee, first reactions: Callum Doyle joins Norwich City on season-long loan
Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Callum Doyle from Manchester City on a season-long loan.
The defender, who helped Leicester City secure promotion back to the top-flight during a loan spell at the King Power Stadium last season, has completed his fourth temporary transfer away from Manchester City.
Doyle made 23 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side, and has previously played at Coventry City and Sunderland prior to spending the 2023/24 season in the Midlands with Leicester.
The England Under-21 defender has been at Manchester City since 2014 and became a scholar at the City Football Academy in 2020, helping both the Under-18s and EDS to silverware as a teenager.
Doyle has never featured for Manchester City competitively, but has trained with Pep Guardiola’s first-team during pre-season preparations, as the Sky Blues bid to win an unprecedented fifth successive Premier League title.
After the 20-year-old completed a season-long loan switch to Carrow Road for the 2024/25 campaign, here is everything you need to know about the transfer!
What are the terms of the Callum Doyle to Norwich City transfer?
The England Under-21 international has officially moved to Carrow Road for the entirety of the 2024/25 season, completing a fourth successive loan spell away from the Etihad Stadium.
The move to Norwich does not include an option to make the transfer permanent, although the Championship club are paying a loan fee to Manchester City, according to BBC Sport.
What have Manchester City said about the transfer?
Whilst Manchester City have not issued a statement confirming the deal on their official club website, the Premier League champions’ Academy account on X said, “Best of luck, Callum!”
What has Callum Doyle said upon joining Norwich City?
Speaking to Norwich City’s official club website, Callum Doyle said, “I’m very excited and glad that it’s finally done.
“I feel really grateful to be here and can’t wait to get started. I think we can have a really good season here.”
How have Norwich City reacted to the transfer deal?
Norwich City’s sporting director Ben Knapper said, “Callum is a player we’ve wanted to bring to the club for some time, and I’m so happy that our patience has been rewarded.
“We feel he’s a great fit for how we want to play, and he brings with him some fantastic experience at this level for someone who’s still just 20. His pedigree is there for all to see and he’ll be an important player for us this season.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Manchester City for entrusting us with the next stage of his development, and I’m sure this can be a mutually beneficial step for all parties.
