How much have Manchester City paid to sign Brazil winger Savio?
A recent report has pointed towards the price tag Premier League champions Manchester City have paid to secure the signing of Brazil winger Savio.
Information in the last few days has began to filter through indicating that the Premier League champions have finally secured their first signing of the ongoing summer transfer window, with their pre-season schedule beginning in just under two weeks.
Much of Manchester City’s pursuit is likely to revolve around the recruitment of new central midfield talents, although the club have always made it clear that they will not be closed off to market opportunities.
As such, Etihad Stadium bosses moved fast to ensure that the club would be at the very front of the queue to sign Savio following a hugely successful spell at Girona last season, on loan from fellow City Football Group side ESTAC Troyes.
But with contractual details and plans for the immediate future having been reported in the last few days, the transfer fee paid by Manchester City has remained relatively quiet until the emergence of one report from Brazilian media.
According to a new report from Globo Esporte, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City have secured the signing of the 20-year-old Brazil international winger from ESTAC Troyes for a fee of €40 million.
The latest understanding is that Savinho will put pen to paper on a five-year agreement at the Etihad Stadium, keeping him with the club until the summer of 2029 at the very earliest, pending his success with the football club.
Following plenty of doubt as to whether he would remain as part of the first-team squad for the forthcoming season, there has also been conversation in various quarters stating that City have now also told the player that he is firmly in their plans for the new campaign.
At one stage in negotiations and final talks with the player and his representatives, the feeling around the club was that Savio would be assessed during the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States, before a decision would be made on whether to sanction a loan deal.
And while Savio is still expected to head out on Manchester City’s tour Stateside, it appears as though a decision has already been made on his status in Pep Guardiola’s upcoming plans.
