Manchester City officials could yet sanction a loan deal for Brazil international winger Savio, who is expected to undergo assessment at the club during pre-season.

The Premier League champions are understood to have finalised an agreement and completed necessary documentation to ensure the ESTAC Troyes winger’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium following his Copa America duties with Brazil this month.

Savio is fresh off the back of a sensational individual campaign with Girona in La Liga last season, and Manchester City moved fast to ensure that his talents were not snapped up by a club outside of the City Football Group.

However, despite the player’s strong performances at club level that ensured Girona a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League, as well as his outings for Brazil over the last months, his longer-term future at Manchester City seemingly remains in doubt.

That comes despite a previous report emerging from Brazil claiming that Savio would be remaining at the Etihad Stadium into the forthcoming campaign, amid an interest from Manchester City recruitment chiefs to invest at right-wing.

According to the information of The Athletic’s Sam Lee, a loan deal away from City for Savio is still on the cards this summer, if he fails to impress coaching staff during the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.

The report quotes sources at Manchester City, who insist that it is still the case despite previous reports from Brazil, however there is hope within the club that the 20-year-old will be ready to contribute and remain part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the forthcoming season.

Savio could have as many as four opportunities to showcase his abilities to perform in a Pep Guardiola system during the upcoming pre-season tour of the USA, with Manchester City putting together a bumper list of fixtures for their Stateside fanbase this summer.

The tour will open in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as Pep Guardiola and his players take on Scottish Premier League champions Celtic at the Kenan Stadium, before travelling to New York City for a meeting with AC Milan at the iconic Yankee Stadium.

July will curtail with a meeting against FC Barcelona at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, before Manchester City’s preparations for the new campaign round-off on August 3 with a meeting against Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio.

Manchester City’s players that faced early exits from national team competitions or no competitive football over the summer months are expected to arrive back at the City Football Academy for pre-season training on Monday 15 July.
