Manchester City have been sounded out by the representatives of one Bayern Munich midfielder regarding the future of head coach Pep Guardiola.

The Catalan coach is entering into the final year of his Etihad Stadium contract, having last extended his deal in the Autumn of 2022 which would see his stay at the club run until the summer of 2025.

As uncertainty continues to hang over Guardiola’s future plans, and some going as far as to suggest that the current feeling is the 53-year-old will leave Manchester City, confirmation on his plans remains absent.

From the side of Manchester City, they are expected to do all they can to persuade Pep Guardiola to stay at the club and hit the decade mark in charge of the Etihad side, and that persuasion could entail an active upcoming summer market.

One name that has been on the club’s radar for a number of months is Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, as Manchester City look for a capable option to stand as back-up to mainstay defensive midfielder Rodri, whilst offering skillset across the pitch.

However, according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, the advisers of the Bayern Munich midfielder ‘want to know’ if Etihad Stadium manager Pep Guardiola intends to stay beyond June 2025.

Guardiola knows Kimmich well from his time at Bayern Munich, and is widely credited for being responsible for the 29-year-old’s growth in the German game and his ability to operate in a number of roles across the field.

Kimmich featured in an inverted full-back role numerous times under Pep Guardiola, in an operation that has been mastered by John Stones in the Manchester City squad, and coached into the likes of Rico Lewis.

The latter could find himself in an uncertain situation this summer, with Kyle Walker likely to retain his role as mainstay right-back for another season, and Manchester City looking to strengthen in central roles during the coming months.
