Manchester City react to mammoth 48% sales increase with new international store
Manchester City have opened a new club shop in the United States following a major rise in sales from the region.
Pep Guardiola’s side will travel stateside in both 2024 and 2025, with Manchester City announcing a pre-season tour in the United States prior to next summer’s inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
The Sky Blues, who clinched a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title last month, will face Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea as part of a four-match tour across July and August.
Matches will take place in Ohio, North Carolina, Florida and New York, with Manchester City having launched a new limited edition club shop in New York’s iconic Rockefeller Center ahead of the Blues’ visit next month.
The Cityzens will face AC Milan at the Yankee Stadium on Saturday 27th July, however the club shop launched this weekend and will remain open until September.
The Premier League trophy will be displayed in New York across the weekend to mark the shop’s opening, with Manchester City launching an American store following major sales success in the country, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The outlet report that the east Manchester club have recorded a 48% increase in online sales from the USA this season, with the signing of Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola’s appearance in TV sitcom Ted Lasso credited as major factors for the surge.
The Blues’ 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in March became the most-watched Premier League match in the USA, and sister-club New York City FC have helped further boost Manchester City’s profile in America.
Serena Gosling, Director of Integrated Fan Experience and Retail & Licensing at Manchester City, said: “We are very excited to announce the launch of our brand new store in the heart of New York City, marking another huge milestone for our global retail offering.
“Ahead of our summer tour, this store offers a further touchpoint for our fans within the US to engage with the club and we’d like to thank our retail partner stichd and its staff for their support.”
