England duo return in four major changes – Predicted XI: Manchester City vs Manchester United (FA Cup Final)

| Last Updated:

Manchester City conclude another historic campaign with an Emirates FA Cup Final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side could win their fourth trophy of the campaign this weekend, as Manchester City bid to beat Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup Final for a second successive season.

The Sky Blues, who lifted a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title last weekend, beat Erik ten Hag’s side 2-1 at Wembley Stadium last season, and have also won both Premier League meetings between the two rivals during the 2023/24 campaign.

Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in March, and also won 0-3 at Old Trafford in October, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden scoring the goals in both games for the Blues.

The Cityzens are unbeaten in their last 35 matches across all competitions, a streak stretching back to early December, and involving 29 wins and six draws.

Manchester United finished 8th in the Premier League, and can only qualify for the UEFA Europa League by winning the FA Cup on Saturday, with the Reds having won just two of their last five matches.

Manchester City will be without Ederson as a result of a facial fracture, and ahead of Saturday’s all-Manchester FA Cup Final in north London, here is how we predict Guardiola’s side to line-up!

Predicted XI

As a result of Ederson’s injury, Stefan Ortega will make his 20th appearance of the season for Manchester City this weekend, with the German potentially playing his final game for the club amid the continued impasse in contract extension talks.

Kyle Walker will retain his place at right-back after marking his 300th Manchester City appearance by winning the Premier League title last weekend, meanwhile Josko Gvardiol will also retain his place at left-back.

Both John Stones and Nathan Ake are set to act as the centre-back pairing at Wembley Stadium, with the duo coming in for Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji for the FA Cup Final against Manchester United.

Rodri will make his 50th start of the season for the Sky Blues, with Mateo Kovacic and Kevin De Bruyne playing ahead of the Spaniard in midfield.

Phil Foden will retain his place after last weekend’s seismic first-half brace, with the 23-year-olds emphatic two goals helping Manchester City to a 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

On the opposite flank one expects to see Jack Grealish return to the starting side, meanwhile Erling Haaland will continue to lead the line for Manchester City.

Starting XI: Ortega, Walker, Stones, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodri, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Foden, Grealish, Haaland.

Substitutes: Carson, Dias, Akanji, Gomez, Lewis, Bernardo, Nunes, Alvarez, Doku, Bobb.
