Vincent Kompany could be set for shock reunion with Manchester City centre-back at Bayern Munich

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly tracking the ongoing situation of Manchester City and England international centre-back John Stones.

It comes as current Burnley head coach and Etihad Stadium legend Vincent Kompany is widely expected to become the next manager of German giants Bayern Munich, following their parting of ways with Thomas Tuchel this summer.

Kompany is fresh off the back of a disappointing campaign with Burnley in the Premier League, culminating in the relegation of the Clarets from the English top-flight but many onlookers holding admiration in the Belgian’s desired style of play.

And it is Bayern Munich who look to capitalise on Vincent Kompany’s potential as a game-leading head coach, as they now look to strike an agreement with Burnley over his release from Turf Moor.

Predictably, the link between Vincent Kompany and the Allianz Arena club has also brought about it links to some of Manchester City’s talents over a possible reunion with the club’s legendary captain in the Bundesliga.

The first of those suggestions has come courtesy of the information of Football Insider, who claim that Bayern Munich are ‘keeping tabs’ on John Stones ahead of a potential shock raid on Manchester City.

Vincent Kompany is said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of the 29-year-old versatile defender, having worked alongside the England international for a number of seasons during his final campaigns as Manchester City captain.

The 29-year-old has endured a relatively challenging campaign off the back of the remarkable highs of Manchester City’s Treble success last season, battling reoccurring injury problems and struggling to displace his defensive teammates.

Kyle Walker has largely held down the right-back slot for the most part of the season, whilst Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, and Nathan Ake have been instrumental in the club’s central defensive successes.

However, Stones has still managed to record 27 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process as Manchester City go in search of a back-to-back domestic double with the FA Cup final looming against Manchester United this weekend.
