“It was a bit horrible” – Erling Haaland provides honest assessment of major Manchester City moment against Tottenham

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has reflected on Tuesday’s crucial win over Tottenham in north London.

The 23-year-old scored both goals during Manchester City’s momentous victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Pep Guardiola’s side moved to within one win of a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 51st minute from close range prior to securing the vital victory with an emphatic penalty in the 91st minute, after Jeremy Doku was brought down in the area.

The Norwegian’s goals, which were Manchester City’s first at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League, also helped the Cityzens to a first Premier League away win to Spurs since October 2018.

The striker has scored 38 goals so far this season, and has netted 63 Premier League goals in 65 appearances since signing from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022.

Haaland is bidding to win his second successive Premier League title, with Manchester City requiring a victory over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon to win the trophy for a sixth time in seven years.

Speaking following Tuesday’s win, Haaland revealed a nervousness surrounding the visit to Tottenham in north London.

“I was really nervous, scared of course, but also a bit excited,” said the forward.

“It was all about getting the ball into the back of the net. That’s what I did, so happy, relaxed, focus on the next one.

“It was a bit horrible. A lot of emotions, we were nervous, which is normal for these types of games, but we won. That was the goal, I don’t care how we won. We won. Now on to the next one.”

Manchester City face the Hammers on Sunday afternoon, meanwhile Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season.

Haaland still has ambitions of adding two trophies to his collection this month, with Guardiola’s side also facing Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.
