Manchester City star Jack Grealish has opened up on a hilarious exchange with club teammate Erling Haaland, as the England international goes in search of improved goal contribution statistics.

City’s £100 million signing in the summer of 2021 has found life in front of goal quite a challenge, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 56 appearances under Pep Guardiola so far.

However, the successful recruitment of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund during the most recent summer transfer window offered fresh optimism for Grealish in particular that his numbers may start to improve.

Unfortunately for Manchester City’s number 10, the 2022/23 season has brought about just a single goal for Jack Grealish in 17 appearances so far this campaign.

Speaking on working alongside Erling Haaland at Manchester City, and particularly the opportunity of providing more goals and assists with the Norwegian, Grealish revealed a brilliant exchange between the two of them on that very subject.

Jack Grealish said, during a feature with Amazon Prime Video this week, “I passed him (Erling Haaland) one and he missed. I said, ‘I need these assists, Erling!'”

Jack Grealish returned to Manchester City action this week, in a 3-2 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup fourth round, to set-up a quarter-final tie away to Southampton next month.

The former Aston Villa captain will be hoping that the post-World Cup stage of the club season will offer more positivity than the first-half, especially after an outing in Qatar that featured a goal on the highest stage of the sport.

Next up for Jack Grealish and Manchester City is an away trip in the Premier League to take on Leeds United at Elland Road – the reigning English top-flight champions’ first match in the division since the 1-2 home defeat to Brentford last month.
