Manchester City have two representatives included in the 2022 Team of the Year by French newspaper, L’Equipe.

It has been yet another stellar year for Pep Guardiola and his players, as they continue to go in search of reclaiming their Premier League crown once again during the ongoing campaign, as well as securing their first ever Champions League title.

The calendar year of 2022 witnessed Manchester City win their fourth English top-flight title in the last five seasons, defeating Aston Villa 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium in a dramatic final day of action last season.

As many may have expected, Guardiola’s side will be credited for their fine performances across the globe, and French newspaper L’Equipe have been one of the first to identify two Manchester City players as being standout performers within the game.

Naming their 2022 Team of the Year, L’Equipe include Manchester City defender Kyle Walker as well as the creative midfielder Kevin De Bruyne alongside several other of the globe’s greatest footballers.

In a 4-4-2 formation, Thibaut Courtois is named as the goalkeeper of the year.

Kyle Walker is at right-back, lining up alongside Virgil Van Dijk, Josko Gvardiol, and Theo Hernandez.

In a midfield four, starring alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, are Lionel Messi, Luka Modric, Casemiro, and the Belgian superstar at left-midfield.

The striking partnership for the French newspaper – who are notoriously strict when it comes to player assessments – is Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.
