The EFL have confirmed the fixture details for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, which will see Manchester City travel to Southampton for a midweek clash.

Pep Guardiola’s side confirmed their place in the final eight of the cup competition via a dramatic 3-2 victory against fellow Premier League giants Liverpool on Thursday night.

Goals from Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez, and Nathan Ake ultimately got the job done for the hosts, but it wasn’t without an almighty battle from the visitors as Fabio Carvalho and Mohamed Salah drew Liverpool level on two occasions during the 90 minutes.

As for Southampton, the Saints went through more of a scare in their fourth round tie.

A second minute own goal from goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu had put Lincoln City ahead at St Mary’s, before a brace from forward Che Adams turned the game around and won Southampton the tie via a 2-1 scoreline on the night.

As both sides look to book their place in the final-four of the Carabao Cup, the EFL have now confirmed the fixture details for the clash which is due to take place in the new year.
