The representatives of Manchester City forward Erling Haaland have held a meeting with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco on Wednesday, according to Spanish reports.

It is the latest development in continued links between Manchester City’s prized possession and an exit from the Etihad Stadium, with Spanish football having long been tied to a move for Erling Haaland at some stage in his rapidly rising career.

Real Madrid have been mooted as long-term admirers of the former Borussia Dortmund and RB Salzburg forward, with Manchester City beating Los Blancos to his signature in the summer transfer window of 2022.

However, as Manchester City continue to pursue a new and renewed contract for Haaland, protecting his transfer value and reportedly increasing his release clause, fresh video has revealed a meeting involving the player’s representatives and one major name from La Liga.

As per footage captured by Jijantes FC, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco met with Rafaela Pimenta and Maxwell – representatives of Manchester City and Norway international striker Erling Haaland, as well as over 45 other players across the globe.

The report claims that Erling Haaland’s longer-term future was ‘one of the topics’ discussed at a meal on Wednesday, with the 23-year-old centre-forward described as Joan Laporta’s ‘great dream’ for the La Liga giants.

Transfer links concerning Erling Haaland are fresh off the back of a staggering outing for Manchester City’s mainstay striker in FA Cup action, as a five-goal haul against fellow Premier League side Luton Town booked the club a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

A 2-6 victory at Kenilworth Road sets up a last-eight meeting with Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in mid-March, with the clash against Eddie Howe’s side sandwiched between mammoth top-flight ties against Liverpool and Arsenal.
