Oscar Bobb is close to penning a new long-term contractual agreement with Manchester City, according to reports this week.

Bobb first joined Manchester City in 2019 from Norwegian side Vålerenga and rose through the club’s youth ranks winning the Elite Development Squad or under-23 Player of the Season award two seasons in a row.

Following his promotion into Guardiola’s first-team set-up last summer, Oscar Bobb was handed his Premier League debut against Fulham in September 2023, and having an involvement in the fifth goal of the contest during the build-up.

Just days later, the Norwegian’s Premier League bow was followed up by his Champions League debut against Red Star Belgrade, before scoring his first goal in the competition away to the Serbian side in December.

But Oscar Bobb’s finest moment in a senior Manchester City shirt has undoubtedly been his last-minute winner against Newcastle United as part of a 2-3 comeback victory, combining with Kevin De Bruyne to net in composed fashion at St James’ Park.

The youngster’s meteoric rise in the first-team set-up now looks to be rewarded by club officials, who are close to agreeing terms with the player over a long-term agreement at the Etihad Stadium.

According to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Manchester City are close to tying down Oscar Bobb to a new long-term contract, with the 20-year-old set to soon commit his future to the Premier League champions.

It is detailed that Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain had told Pep Guardiola that the now-Norway international must be promoted to the Etihad Stadium first-team last summer having stood out for the club’s under-23 squad in recent seasons.

Since making the leap into Guardiola’s senior side, the Manchester City manager has reportedly been impressed with the youngster’s application in training alongside his Treble-winning teammates.

Across all competitions, Oscar Bobb has registered 16 appearances for Manchester City’s senior side so far this season, contributing to four goals in total; scoring twice himself and assisting the other two.

In fact, such is Bobb’s role in the squad that the Norway international has featured in all of Manchester City’s competitions this season with the exception of the UEFA Super Cup in Greece last August.

Bobb’s latest outing saw him earn his first Premier League start for the club, operating on the left of a front-three in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
