Royal family of Western Asia Kingdom attend Etihad Stadium as ‘guests’ of Manchester City
The royal family of the Kingdom of Bahrain were reportedly ‘guests’ of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s players took on Mauricio Pochettino’s players in their latest Premier League encounter, but failed to maintain their 11-game winning run into another week as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the London side.
Raheem Sterling’s first-half opener to summarise an underwhelming Manchester City showing in the opening 45 minutes was ultimately cancelled out by a late Rodrigo equaliser, with the hosts’ best efforts not ending with an even later winning effort.
Things got even more interesting off the field however, according to fresh reports, with literal royalty in attendance at the Etihad Stadium descending on east Manchester from the Persian Gulf.
That is according to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, who reports that Bahrain’s royal family were ‘guests’ of the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium for their top-flight showdown against Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Manchester City are back in action at the Etihad Stadium as soon as Tuesday night, as they embark on their long-awaited game in hand in the Premier League, originally scheduled to take place in December.
Brentford’s visit to the Etihad Stadium comes just a few weeks after Manchester City made the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium, as Phil Foden’s hat-trick cancelled out Neal Maupay’s first-half opener.
City should settle for nothing other than the full three points as they look to maintain the pace with title challengers Liverpool and Arsenal, and should that be managed they would move into second position and trail Jurgen Klopp’s side by just one point.
